We are about to witness the launch of the new Galaxy S26, which will be presented at the next Galaxy Unpacked event on February 25; and we already have details on one of the most notable features that will be introduced.
Samsung has named this feature as “Privacy Display”and promises to be one of the most practical and used in these new terminals, although it may not be available in all models.
This technology is designed to avoid “curious glances” from other people can see your screen, allowing only the user directly in front of the device to see the content.
To achieve this, Samsung has implemented the Flex Magic Pixel technologydeveloped by Samsung Display, its sister company, which adjusts the angle of the pixels on the screen to limit visible angles.
In simpler terms, when activated, this technology adjusts the viewing angle of each pixel individuallymaking them only visible from the front; from any other angle, the screen will appear black.
Samsung has released a new video on social networks and YouTube that demonstrates the advantages of this technology and how it can be used, with the slogan “Can your phone do this?”.
The video shows a user reading a book on her mobile phone, while two people try to spy from behind; By activating the privacy function, the screen darkens, hiding the content to everyone except the user of the device.
Of course, privacy protectors are not a new concept in the world of smartphones; It’s common to find screen protectors that offer a similar effect, showing a black screen from any angle other than close to 90 degrees.
However, these filters have certain disadvantages; They compromise image quality by adding an extra layer and reducing brightness even from optimal angles. Besides, Once the filter is installed, it must be used permanentlywhich forces you to always look at your cell phone straight ahead.
On the contrary, Samsung’s solution is much more flexible, since, as shown in the promotional video, can be turned on and off as needed in different situations.
Furthermore, since this technology affects the pixels individually, it will also be possible set privacy for different areas of the screen independently.
This means that, for example, you could configure that only notifications that contain sensitive information are hidden by this functionality, leaving the rest of the screen visible normally.
Ice Universe has shared a video showing how this partial private screen application works on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, demonstrating how the content of a notification is hidden as the mobile is tilted.
