The Kings of Spain, Felipe VI and Doña Letizia, inaugurated the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2026 in Madrid. A global event that brought together tourism representatives from all over the world.
Mexico was invited as an honorary partner, with a historic display led by the Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, and the presence of several governors and tourism secretaries. The country showed the largest pavilion in America, with 1,780 square meters of exhibition.
OAXACA SHINES AMONG THE 32 STATES
Inside the pavilion, Oaxaca was presented with its cultural wealth, traditions, gastronomy and tourist attractions. Showing its diversity along with the other 31 states of the Republic. The participation of Oaxaca reinforced the image of Mexico as a destination with a comprehensive tourist experience. Which combines history, nature and community tourism.
The Kings of Spain visited the stand and were received by the Secretary of Tourism and Ambassador Quirino Ordaz. Those who explained Mexico’s proposals and the importance of including all states, such as Oaxaca, to show the breadth and diversity of national tourism. Oaxaca immediately attracted attention and seduced with its great cultural offering.
DIVERSIFICATION AND COMMUNITY TOURISM
Josefina Rodríguez Zamora highlighted that the fair allows us to show how Mexico diversifies its tourism offer, like Spain, and emphasized the role of indigenous peoples and community tourism. Source of prosperity for local communities.
The Secretary also shared with the monarchs information about the participation of the 32 states and international events, such as Formula 1 and the World Cup venues, which function as economic and tourist triggers.

The Mexican pavilion, with the prominent presence of Oaxaca and all the states, was consolidated as a key point of Fitur 2026, attracting the attention of international visitors, media and tour operators, and projecting Mexico as a diverse, competitive and culturally rich destination.
