four men of sido detained this tuesday beating death of far-right activist —Quentin Deranque— in Lyon. One of those arrested is Jacques-Elie Favrot, the advisor to La Francia Insumisaas reported by the prosecutor of the French city, Thierry Dran.

These arrests come after the identification of several suspects, some of whom have ties to the extreme left, according to Le Figaro. The Lyon prosecutor confirmed that some suspects had been identified, “but not all.”

It was this same Monday when the Lyon Prosecutor’s Office opened a criminal investigation for voluntary manslaughter after the death of the young man 23 years old who died on Saturday, after spending two days in critical condition due to the brutal beating given to him by a group of leftist ultras.

The victim was thrown to the ground and beaten by “at least six individuals” wearing masks and hoods last Thursday in the middle of the street.

The first elements of the investigation have been able to determine that Quentin had gone to the Faculty of Political Sciences to protest against a conference offered by the radical left MEP Rima Hassan.

After a first fight, a group of about twenty hooded ultra-left men managed to surround some of the extreme right protesters and to the friends who had come to help them, among them Quentin, who was a mathematics student.

Three of these far-right militants were later surrounded about two kilometers from the conference site by a group of six hooded men, who gave them a beating.

Two of them, the prosecutor explained, managed to escape, but the third, Quentin, remained inert on the ground, until minutes later he was helped by a friend who tried to take him home when he found him still conscious and even able to express himself, although he had “forgotten the sequence of events.”

But upon seeing that his health was rapidly deteriorating, he called some friends and they decided to alert the emergency services who took him to the hospital where he died this Saturday.

The autopsy performed on his body determined that had a fatal head injurywhich prevented his resuscitation.

Political controversy

The case has raised a great political controversy in France and has placed the leftist The Rebellious France, by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, at the center of criticism from his rivals, on the eve of the campaign for next month’s municipal elections.

Bregeon assured that this party had a “moral responsibility” in crime for the calls for violence it launches and for giving shelter to that radical group.

Some media published days ago that among the aggressors was a Arnault’s parliamentary assistantto whom the presidency of the National Assembly prohibited access to the premises this Monday. Information that this Tuesday has been confirmed by The Figarowhere they indicate that one of the four arrested was Jacques-Elie Favrot, parliamentary assistant to the left-wing deputy Raphaël Arnault.
